Community gathers for food, shopping at ‘Fashion Meets Food Truck Rally’

TROTWOOD — People from across the Miami Valley gathered Sunday afternoon at the Old Salem Mall for the 4th annual “Fashions Meets Food Truck Rally.”

More than 50 vendors and 15 food trucks set up shop at the event in Trotwood.

Tae Winston organized the event. Like her three businesses, Winston told News Center 7′s Ronnell Hunt that the event was meant to help small businesses.

“I just wanted to help small businesses thrive and everyone sold out. So, the mission was accomplished,” Winston said.

Andre Hawkins, owner of H&H Soul Food, said the event helps small businesses like his.

‘It actually sets the platform for us as entrepreneurs, independent small businesses to showcase out business, our ideas, our visions,” Hawkins said.

Trotwood Mayor Mary McDonald said events like the “Fashion Meets Food Truck Rally” help build the community’s spirit.

“It’s really just good to be a family, taking care of each other, doing what we love: eating and shopping,” McDonald said.
