From slamming outfit-mocking trolls to Amit Kumar's controversial statement on Indian Idol 12, these celebs made their way to the headlines this week

Since Covid-19's second wave, the entertainment industry is suffering major setbacks back to back. However, this past week was an absolute roller-coaster ride as major controversies sparked-off simultaneously.

MUMBAI: The atmosphere in the television industry stirred up when the news about the dispute between Karan Mehra and wife Nisha Rawal caught the public’s eye. While their marriage became the most-talked-about topic in the past week, a few more happenings grabbed the limelight.

Let’s take a look at the top TV headlines of the last week:

Earlier this week, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame Karan Mehra was arrested after his wife Nisha Rawal filed a case of assault against him. Eventually, revelations took place when both the couple were seen giving their respective statements in the media. Nisha accused Karan of having an extramarital affair, domestic violence and not taking up their son Kavish’s responsibility. Meanwhile, in his response, Karan stated that Nisha has always been physically abusive and aggressive. Talking about the injury that Nisha claims is the result of Karan’s violence, Karan stated that she banged her own head on the wall.

Further, speaking about the dispute between the couple, Nisha’s counsel shared that they are working on an amicable separation.

The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress Divyanka Tripathi was recently questioned by a fan on not wearing a dupatta in her Crime Patrol episodes. This didn’t go well with her and she schooled the Twitter user for respecting women irrespective of they wearing a dupatta or not. She concluded her reply by saying, “Mera shareer, meri aabru, meri marzi! Aap ki sharaafat, aap ki marzi!”. Furthermore, when asked if she’d say the same to a fan who likes to see her wearing a dupatta by another user, Divyanka politely said that questioning a woman’s clothing isn’t appropriate.

After a row of statements against Amit Kumar on Indian Idol 12, Sonu Nigam came out in support of the actor who seems to have been getting targeted for his statements about the show. The singer shared a video on his Instagram account and asked the makers of the show to shut the controversies from their end. “You should end this controversy. Indian Idol makers are not at fault for asking someone to encourage the contestants and Amit Kumar is not wrong in saying that he praised the contestants. He did not say anything bad about the contestants. Both makers and Amit Kumar are not at fault.

Those who are constantly giving weightage to the issue like Manoj Muntashir or Aditya (Narayan) are at fault....I don't want anybody to say anything against Amit Ji. Humse bahot bade artist hain.”, Sonu stated in his video.
